Ann, good point that the show has a different resonance in this self-isolating time. One of the characters even says that he comes to the pub because he is single and lives by himself, and he would have no human connection otherwise. But in the COVID era, he wouldn't be able to do that. Although this production was supposed to take place in 1997 (the year the play was written), the old-timey look of the set and lines like the above gave the show a bit of a nostalgic/elegiac air that wouldn't have been present during the Broadway run.
