I saw the Sunday evening show. Dukakis was OK, but she was still reading from the hand-held script while everyone else was off-book.
The rest of the cast, especially Anita Gillette, was outstanding. I remember hearing comments as I left the theater about how good Gillette was in the show -- still the eternal ingenue. Dukakis' reading and singing of the role (at this point) was all right. It just was strange that she had not memorized her lines and lyrics after a number of performances. |
