I wonder if Sheldon Harnick is sincere when he makes statements about the most recent Broadway revival of SHE LOVES ME being his favorite production of the show and supposedly approving the damaging choices that Bartlett Sher made in directing FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, or if he just says things like that because he wants to be nice and appear open minded. I did not see the original production of SHE LOVES ME, but it's very hard for me to imagine that it was inferior to the recent Roundabout one, which in my opinion was very problematic despite some wonderful elements.
