| Joseph O'Connor's "Shadowplay" is another good one. It's fiction but the characters are real people, including Victorian-era actors Henry Irving and Ellen Terry. The main character of the thriller is Bram Stoker, who's better known now as the writer of "Dracula" (and as a stone cold fox) but who manages Irving's theater in the book and has to deal with his vanity and temper. Jack the Ripper's murders also enter into it. |
