The only example I can think of is in ANYONE CAN WHISTLE, when a black ensemble player steps forward during "Simple" and sings
"Ya can't judge a book by it's cubber ..." etc.
A moment which, I believe I've read, Sondheim has pointed out as one of the reasons the show can't be revived. |
