It's a bizarre logic to say that acknowledging women are women is sexism. I'm trying to wrap my head around that, and I can't. You're saying (I think?) that to point out that women are women is to exhibit prejudice against them. Because, what, that reminds us that they are women, and it's bad to do that? That's up there with it's racist to acknowledge that someone is Black.
And at the same time, you seem to be insisting that we don't have to see women as women, we can just see them as people, which implies that being "a person" is better than being "a woman". (It's all very Do You Feel Anger? by Mara Nelson-Greenberg.) I really hope that isn't what you're saying. We're not going to agree on much in this thread, but I do hope you can unpack the logic on that one a bit more. |
