I started Schitt's Creek earlier this year. I couldn't stand the pilot. It felt so BASIC cable. By the second episode I was scratching my head and wondering why so many people loved this show. And, then, suddenly, somehow, I'd breezed through the entire first season in one weekend. And get ready for all the Moira Rose memes and GIFS!
As for Dark, I'm a huge fan of darker European noir shows and I'm a sucker for 80s period pieces (see the excellent Deutschland 83), but I couldn't get past Dark's pilot. It was way too pulpy, heavy-handed and eyeroll inducing for me. It made me think of that other Netflix cult favorite The OA.
