| The effort and excitement about a indoor-but-spaced-out Harry Clarke (no pun intended) was for naught; it is a no go. When we discuss the viability of Broadway in the Spring, I think these sorts of unknowables suggest why it is going to be tough to make the call, several months out, to go forward. |

| I walked past the TKTS booth in Times Square Wednesday, and thought "We'd have to socially distance just waiting in these lines." It sent a shudder, realizing that actual indoor attendance still seems far away. In a nation trepidatiously awaiting to vote in school gyms and cafeterias, packing 1500 into a tight space still feels frightening. The vaccine promise dangled daily seems to suggest the need for polio or measles level societal coverage, not merely seasonal flu inoculation. Likely with at least yearly updates. I'm old enough to recall waiting in line in a school parking lot to get my polio cube in 7th grade; the idea of refusing the vaccine was alien, which is far from true today. We are ever embroiled in a cultural debate over the very thing that will make it feel safe to assemble. The conversation about resumption of indoor performances is complex indeed. | |

| I am not as pessimistic as you seem but I think we can agree that it turns on timing of a vaccine or some other satisfying alternative. Right now everything is theoretical. I would point out that a significant anti-vax contigent is really of concern to epidemiologists rather than to a person who has been vaccinated (or immunized naturally, for that matter). I also don't think that "movement" will be significant in New York or the region, for the same reason that our current infection rate is very low. | |

| Who cares if it's indoors or in a tent? It was the first attempt: maybe too soon; they found a solution. Hoping Harry Clarke is a great show and that they have a great run. Broadway will adapt and move forward. It's early days. Merde, all! |

| It was a great show with Billy Crudup, and it should play fine outside. | |

| It was a great show when I saw it and I expect it will be at Barrington. I was not in any way criticizing either the effort or the solution. My sole point was that, for the foreseeable future, there will be unknowables and while Barrington has flexibility that allows them to take risks, Broadway (which cannot "adapt" in this sense) has to depend on sane business decisions, and business people cannot ante up huge sums of money for something that is unknowable. Yes, Broadway will move forward. All in good time. |

| I'm a bit manic about being really positive right now. Even if I come off negatively. Lots of love, ryhog! pp. |

| It is a great solution, and one that many NYC theaters are exploring, but one that is not practical for Broadway, which is locked into their buildings. | |
