I can’t say I agree with you as to the relevance of his being Jewish. “So new?” strikes me as street slang for “and this surprises you?”, so I would not equate Nathan with Tevye, Fanny or Tateh, to name a few.
(I liked Molina’s Tevye all the same.) |
