Where are you finding the "official lyrics" online? Please provide a link. As Chromolume says, most lyrics sites online are full of errors, at least the ones I've seen.
It is "nu" in the published script, the licensed materials from MTI (both script and score), and The Complete Lyrics of Frank Loesser.
