| I believe it was in a thread here recently that people were mentioning some Italian actors who have successfully played Jewish, so for those who enjoy Reni Santoni's performance in ENTER LAUGHING, that would be another example. | |

| Alan Arkin was probably great on the stage, but he might have read as too old on screen for his role in "Enter Laughing". As it was, I think Santoni was about 27, and he was playing someone who was supposed to be about 18 to 20. I don't know if it's clear if he is a high school or college graduate, only that his mother wants him to be a pharmacist. I too watched the film this past week and was sorry to hear about Mr. Santoni's passing. Btw, Elaine May was really very pretty on screen in her role as Jose Ferrer's daughter! | |
