ON PLAYBILL.COM

New York, NY) Playbill is proud to announce Women in Theatre: A Centennial Celebration. Hosted by Tony Award nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist Heidi Schreck (What the Constitution Means to Me) and Drama Desk nominee Rebecca Naomi Jones (Oklahoma!), the concert will take place on Playbill.com on Women's Equality Day, Wednesday August 26, 2020 at 8PM ET.

Women in Theatre: A Centennial Celebration will celebrate the contributions women have made to the theatre in the last 100 years, with the theatrical stars of today and tomorrow. Casting will be announced shortly.

Directed by Melissa Crespo (Native Gardens, 3Views), with musical direction by Victoria Theodore (Summer: The Donna Summer Musical) and sound design by MP Kuo (MPK Recording and Production), the event will feature songs by women, gender non-conforming and non-binary artists of the past 100 years, performed by members of the community, and will also pay homage to women, gender non-conforming and non-binary playwrights, writers, creatives and designers through a selection of speaker videos offering personal reflection and expressing connection to the women who came before us. Women in Theatre tells the story of historymakers and milestone moments for women and pushes forward as a demonstration of the intersectional and inclusive future we insist upon for all women, gender non-conforming and non-binary artists in theatre.

The concert will honor the Broadway Advocacy Coalition's Artivism Fellowship. The Broadway Advocacy Coalition's new Artivism Fellowship will support artist activists using their tools to have an impact on the world around them. The Fellowship will provide financial support, mentorship, networking opportunities and education workshops. The inaugural class of fellows will specifically support Black women, gender non-conforming and non-binary artist activists focused on issues related to systemic racism and criminal justice reform. Additional details and applications will be announced later in August. For more information on the Broadway Advocacy Coalition'snew Artivism Fellowship, visit www.bwayadvocacycoalition.com.
