I believe Odom and most of the original cast had already been gone from HAMILTON for some time prior to the recording. So this wasn't a case of him getting paid more for a job he was already doing. This was an entirely separate job offer to return the show and recreate his performance for what they were terming a "movie," since it was to have been released theatrically.

Even though this is a performance that he'd already done many times, if he was away for any length of time (originally without any thought of returning), I'm sure there were some kind of rehearsals involved to get back into the groove. This may not have been a significant pull on Odom's time, but I also don't think he just walked in off the street, having been out of the show for a period of time, and hit the stage to give his performance.

All this is to say, that assuming the cast wasn't on a favored nations contract for this filming, why wouldn't he and his representatives want to get what they feel that he's worth to come back to the show? That's their job. If the powers that be didn't think he was worth it, they could easily have had their pick of actors playing Burr at that time on Broadway, on tour, or in London.
