| I said this until I felt like a broken record back in the early days of the pandemic. The awards are about marketing; everything else is window dressing. Properties needed and now have an opportunity to market. When people will see shows is irrelevant: unless a producer wants to dump their show in the trash bin, they want it out there, and this is their chance. Do you think a show that closed on Broadway in '19 will get airtime in the non-foreseeable future? Now or never. Why awards and not just performances? People (especially Americans) thrive on competition. Think of it as a game show. Think of it as a rigged game show if you want. Finally, who wants an award in their living room? Anyone who wins one. That's a no-brainer LOL. |
