... it's more about looking for alternative ways to fill airtime, the knock-on effect of usual fall programming being delayed due to the coronavirus shutdown.

Seems safe to say that the Tonys/CBS contract wouldn't allow such a thing.

Nor would it be a digital presentation, as the release says the awards will be.
