Yes, that's what I meant: winning the EGOT for the same role.

Erivo and Platt benefitted from timing and recent rule changes that made it easier to reach an EGOT.

Starting 2012, the Grammys allowed the principal artists on a Broadway cast album to be eligible for the prize, too.

Previously, that Grammy for Musical Theater Album went only to the producers and composers.

Starting 2016, the Daytime Emmys gave out a prize for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program. Primarily, it went to musical artists who appeared on a talk show or morning program (usually to promote their show or CD). A Broadway show won this Emmy 3 out of the 4 times it was awarded: ''Dear Evan Hansen,'' ''The Color Purple'' and ''The Band's Visit.'' This Emmy has since been eliminated.

Needless to say, had these rule changes existed earlier, it's possible others might've completed an EGOT.

I didn’t realize those rule changes existed.

That does explain how someone could win three of the four for one part by winning cast album.

The principal soloist thing has gotten abused at times. Hamilton had 10 principal soloists, including Okeriete Onaodowan. Oak is a great performer, but there is no way he should be a principal soloist. Dear Evan Hansen made every cast member a principal soloist.

As of next year, there can be no more than 4 principal soloists.
