You're correct. The last time the Tonys nominated only a single entry for Best Score (and Best Book) was 1995 for ''Sunset Boulevard.''

In 1989, they dropped Best Score (& Book), rather than nominate ''Starmites,'' ''Chu Chem,'' ''Legs Diamond'' and ''Welcome to the Club.''

As for ''worst year for Best Musical,'' that's subjective, but 2020 won't be the first time the Tonys featured a skimpier selection of nominees.

1985: The Tonys dropped the categories of Leading Actor in a Musical, Leading Actress in a Musical and Choreography.

1989: The Tonys had only 3 shows up for Best Musical: ''Jerome Robbins' Broadway,'' ''Black and Blue'' and ''Starmites.''

1995: The Tonys had only 2 shows up for Best Musical and only 2 women up for Leading Actress in a Musical. (They could've had 4 nominees in the latter category if they included Elaine Stritch from ''Show Boat'' and bumped up Megan Mullally from ''How to Succeed in Business.'')
