As others have noted, play scores are eligible (and one of them had better win), so there's more than one eligible score.
But there are new provisions since the Sunset Boulevard year so winning by default isn't guaranteed:
- if there's only one candidate for any category, the nominating committee may grant a nomination, not that it's automatic
- if there are three or fewer candidates for a best show category, there's a yes/no vote on each; no majority "yes", no nomination |
