It took all the devices from Luhrmann's vision and turned them into gimmicks. Aaron sang the part well but failed to connect with every other actor on that stage and didn't capture any of his character's emotion highs or lows. HOWEVER, I may be okay with him winning just because he was so robbed of even a nomination for Next to Normal.
