| Amy Adams is playing Ben Platt's mother? I find it weird that they are not casting older if Platt is playing Evan. I know he hasn't been officially announced, but his father is producing. |

| For the record Ben Platt is 26 and Amy Adams 8s 46......no problem......for example Stockard Channing was 27 when she filmed Grease. Just watched THE ENTERTAINER on TV.....Laurence Olivier's father was only one year older than him.....Answer? MAKEUP. | |

| I know many people feel the role of Evan belongs to Platt, I'm in the minority: I think the film requires a teenager. A 27-year-old -- and Platt seems 25, easily, on The Politician (and the series isn't stellar, to be kind; not a minority opinion) -- self-presents differently. I'm surely this accomplished actor-singer will deliver. But he isn't a teen, and the camera doesn't lie. The material's strength is its authenticity. I'll be hated, but I'd prefer that Platt pass the torch. A 15-18 year-old actor might bring something powerful to the story. | |

| Thank you both for the clarification. I had assumed she was playing Evan's mother, which is a much larger role. But the film may be making significant changes. The linked article says that Danny Pino is playing Connor's stepfather, a role that has been "conceived specially for the film." So Cynthia Murphy may be a bigger presence in the movie. I'm wondering if Connor's stepfather is replacing Michael Park's role, or if it's an additional role. |
