It was Best Featured. Best Actress was given to stars. In fact, for some time, it was called Best Performance by a Broadway Star.

In 1961, it was "Featured or Supporting"

At the link, you can see it announced that way, starting around 19:48. In the old days, it was sometimes Supporting, sometimes Featured, and sometimes Featured or Supporting.
