| Yeah it's truly mindboggling. I know few scores as funny, funny and tuneful. Bright, silly, lovely, bawdy and smart all at once. And i don't agree with Steve, it does seem very much the right score for the show... i think it works because of how different yet well matched the book and score are, how they balance each other and work together without sacrificing anything, to create a fuller experience a musical than just a zany raunchy farce with disposable songs and serviceable but throw away lyrics... as the show might have had. |
