(Pittsfield, MA - August 31, 2020) - Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Pittsfield, MA., in the heart of the Berkshires, and under the leadership of Founder/Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, will present a virtual reading of Eleanor, a new play about Eleanor Roosevelt, by BSC Associate Artist Mark St. Germain (Off-Broadway and BSC's Freud's Last Session) and starring Tony Award winner Harriet Harris (BSC's The Royal Family of Broadway, Sweeney Todd; Broadway's Thoroughly Modern Millie, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella).

Eleanor, directed by Henry Stram (Broadway's Titanic, Network), will be filmed at the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage on September 2 without an audience, and will be available to stream on September 4 and 5 at 7:30 pm ET. Tickets ($15) can be ordered from OvationTix and a link will then be sent to the ticket holder within 24 hours of the scheduled performance.

Eleanor brings to life Eleanor Roosevelt, the most influential First Lady the world has ever seen. From her "Ugly Duckling" upbringing to her unorthodox marriage to Franklin, Eleanor puts her controversial life, loves and passions on the stage.

Mark St. Germain (Playwright) has written the plays Freud's Last Session (Off Broadway Alliance Award), Camping with Henry and Tom (Outer Critics Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award), Forgiving Typhoid Mary (Time Magazine's "Year's Ten Best") and Becoming Dr. Ruth. Eighteen of his plays are published by Samuel French, Dramatists Play Service and Broadway Play Publishing. Mark co-wrote the screenplay for Carroll Ballard's Warner Brothers film, Duma. He directed and co-produced the documentary, My Dog, An Unconditional Love Story, featuring Richard Gere, Glenn Close and Billy Collins among others. Television credits include "The Cosby Show," and Dick Wolf's "Crime and Punishment." He wrote the award-winning children's book Three Cups. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, the Writers Guild East, and an Associate Artist at Barrington Stage.

Henry Stram (Director) is an actor who has appeared on Broadway in: Network, Junk, The Elephant Man(and at Theatre Royal Haymarket, London), Inherit the Wind, The Crucible (2002) and Titanic. Recent Off-Broadway: The Headlands (LCT3); Judgment Day and The Hairy Ape (Park Avenue Armory); A Proust Sonata (Florence Gould Hall), The School for Scandal (Red Bull); Posterity (Atlantic); Fly by Night(Playwrights Horizons); The Cradle Will Rock (Encores Off Center); Charles Ives Take Me Home (Rattlestick); Antony and Cleopatra (Public and RSC); and The Illusion (Signature). Film: Ben is Back, Submission, The Greatest Showman, Irrational Man, Cradle Will Rock, The Grey Zone, Illuminata, Angelica. TV: "The Detour," "White Collar," "Smash," "The Americans, "Law & Order."
