| If it's so unsafe, how about you stay out of NYC then, Teacher64. And while you're at it you can go talk about how much you loved A Christmas Story: The Musical & how you figured out the twist to Next To Normal ad nauseam on some other regional board for a city that's hopefully not "in flames." |

| Teacher64's post is incendiary, anecdotal evidence to back up bias, cribbed from police blotter. I've been a New Yorker since 1979. It's a city. An enormous one. It endures cycles of city-specific challenges. It's also resilient as few places on the globe are. To prognosticate a dark future is ahistorical. New York City is a metaphor: a testament to survival. Broadway is woven into its DNA, and Broadway will be back. | |

| You forgot to mention that the post was almost entirely fake news. Get ready for a lot more of this for the next 2 months; this is the false narrative of one of our presidential candidates. PS: I walked 5th Avenue last week with a friend, Central Park to Washington Square. "Boarded up" is not what I saw. The only address I came upon that seemed besieged was 725 5th Avenue. But of course I very much doubt that Teacher64 has been in NY in 6 months or more, and premumably would be treated as a pariah if they did show up. The key word in your post is "resilient." That is the quintessential characteristic of New York. The only quibble I have is that it is the theatre, not just Broadway, that is woven in our DNA. |
