| Realistically, forums like AllThatChat have been targeted all across the USA with false information to stir up division and influence the presidential election. There's no reason to imagine that it couldn't happen here, and even though we're terrific at self-policing, i do think TBAdmin should make it easy for us to flag posts for removal. See today's news re: the activities of the Internet Research Agency. And admin -- it's been so long since many of us agreed to terms, but if there's nothing within the TOS that forbids posts that spread false news (although I think there is), maybe that's a valuable thing to include? - GMB |

| He's right - there are many stores closed/boarded up, and yes - there is a video about a rape in the subway being widely circulated on the internet. Does this paint a complete picture of NY? No. I live here and while it's certainly different, it's not dead by any means. But he's right - the impression that tourists may be getting about NYC is not good and we will have to work to overcome that before we can get those buses of grey-hairs back in filling the seats and paying the bills. |

| The trouble is a disparity between one reality - shootings are up by 50% this year - and another reality - New York has been experiencing its lowest levels of violent crime in nearly 70 years. So it's very easy for propagandists to focus on the first reality, and then build a nightmare story out of that, rather than attempt to educate people through a nuanced portrait that accounts for multiple facts. | |
