He's right - there are many stores closed/boarded up, and yes - there is a video about a rape in the subway being widely circulated on the internet.

Does this paint a complete picture of NY? No. I live here and while it's certainly different, it's not dead by any means.

But he's right - the impression that tourists may be getting about NYC is not good and we will have to work to overcome that before we can get those buses of grey-hairs back in filling the seats and paying the bills.
