Unfortunately, I think Glenn Close has become as delusional as Norma Desmond. While a film version with Close might have been plausible in the late 90's, the sad truth is she's 25 years too old for the role today and she's definitely not a big enough box office draw for a big, expensive movie. I agree that possibly a combination of Streep and Gyllenhall might be sufficient to convince bankers, but even then it would be a long shot.
The musical itself is really not that great and has never shown a profit in any of its stage productions, all those Tonys notwithstanding. |
