Very entertaining program with raconteurs par excellence Peter Filichia and Josh Ellis engaging us for 90 minutes, at first, with stories about musicals that featured presidents of the United States. Thus we got to hear about Of Thee I Sing, Let 'Em Eat Cake, Mr. President, 1776, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hamilton, and some lesser known musicals.
Later they talked about the various U.S. Presidents who liked to go to the theatre beginning with Coolidge and including Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Clinton, and Obama. The moderator was a 13-year old theatre enthusiast (he's read all of Peter's theatre books) named Charles Kirsch. This young kid really knows his Broadway shows.
It was presented on YouTube last night so I was able to see it on my TV instead of a laptop. Anyone else catch it? |
