I’ve never seen the play before. So it was a nice treat to see something new done well during covid. The weir was well done. Tech staff at Irish rep learned a few tricks since then—now the characters interact! There are multiple cameras on each actor. A slap or kiss are realistic. Enough about the tech—belle aykroyd as Sara is a delight. Her contempt for her father (Played well by Robert Cuccioli) is so fun to watch. The third crutial character is the mother nicely performed by Kate Forbes. Costumes were excellent (and even distressed) and I really liked the score By Ryan rumery (would be Tony worthy this season If on broadway!)
I’m not sure where the separation of zoom reading vs separate camera performances edited (like this) vs movie really are drawn, but I really like the effort Irish rep is doing now presenting plays.
Performances are all this week. |
