Actually, reassessment of New York, New York has only grown over the years. In fact, last fall, the Metrograph Theater downtown booked it for a one week run (new print!) that was extended for a month.
It's also been revived by Anthology Film Archives, MOMA, and many other venues (including Quentin Tarantino's New Beverly Cinema in LA). It has found a very loyal audience. You could easily classify it as a cult film.
I adored it from the day I saw it in June 1977. |
