A handful of movie theaters opened near where I live in the Chicago suburbs in early September (I think). First I was hesitant because I was afraid I'd be in one of those rather small theaters that make up a multi screen cineplex. Even with masks and social distancing I'm not comfortable being in a relatively small indoor space with 40 or 50 people with everyone stationary for 2-1/2 hours. However, when I checked the online map for the 2 movies I wanted to see, the theaters were almost completely empty. So I went and was glad to finally get out and enjoy a movie.
Unfortunately, I can't imagine any of them turning a profit with such low attendance. Now our positivity rate has really jumped so shut downs are imminent. |
