In 1994, Diana Leblanc directed a legendary production of Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night at our Tom Patterson Theatre – a production that became such a huge hit that we remounted it the following season.
In 1996, David Wellington made a film based on our stage production, featuring the same incredible cast: William Hutt, Martha Henry, Peter Donaldson, Tom McCamus and Martha Burns. It was named Best Canadian Feature Film at that year's Toronto International Film Festival and went on to receive seven Genie Award nominations – and its cast won in all four of the acting categories.
We can’t wait to revisit it with you tonight as we present the film live on our YouTube, streaming free worldwide for 36 hours.
We’ll get started at 6:30pm ET with a pre-show interview with Diana, Martha, Tom and Martha, hosted by Antoine Yared, and the film will begin at 7pm. |
