I hear from people who know him that Kurt Peterson is a lovely, sweet man, but I wouldn't think he'd be any more of a reliable source on this than anyone else. He might be, I suppose, but I wouldn't count on it. It was 45 years ago, and it wasn't even his song.
As I just posted, LuPone said in her memoir that it was cut for one performance. At least that's what I think I saw on googlebooks a couple of months ago. In various earlier published sources, there were some inconsistencies, but I don't think that in any of them it was said that the song was in and out (at least in none that I've seen). But there was a shorter version of the song, apparently put in as a compromise, and perhaps that has led to some confusion. |
