Where will Stephen Schwartz end up in the pantheon of show composers and lyricists?

Granted, he's written some semi-classics like Godspell, Wicked, and Pippin.
Yet, we rarely look at those as great works of art.
I find his work nice work-a-day stuff, often with good tunes.
