I agree. Like Tommy Rall, the Nicholas Brothers were incredible. Because they were black, Harold and Fayard were only allowed to dance in all-black films or do specialty numbers in films like Down Argentine Way. They were rarely allowed to dance on screen with white performers, the most noteworthy exception being in The Pirate with Gene Kelly.
