| Because Elaine Strich's belting kind of vocal ability and range didn't match Madeline Kahn's, Judy Kaye's, Marin Mazzie's or Kristin Chenoweth's, which is the difference between the "Goldilocks" and "On the 20th Century" vocal requirements. Plus in something like"Goldilocks", Reba's accent wouldn't really matter, as it's about silent movies, and she can be from anywhere. That's probably not the biggest different in "On the 20th Century" though I think Mildred Plotka's transformation to Lily Garland probably involves a bit of highfalutin' speech and manner. |
