The show can be shortened to one part, and the producers very much want to do that, but you're right that the tech makes that incredibly complicated. The plan I've heard is for the show to load out of The Lyric, completely re-tech (possibly on the West Coast), and then load that version back into The Lyric.
It's a lot to consider, but it may be worth it for them if they can find a way to make a Harry Potter play successful in the U.S.
As for The Lyric, it might spend the interregnum hosting another ATG property that thinks it could benefit from selling a smaller theater's worth of tickets in a larger, under-capacity, socially distanced house. |
