I am confused by a few things you say. Maybe you can help me out.
1. I am not sure why you are picking on Fred Dixon. He got his job by gaining a lot of experience in travel marketing. The comparison to Charlotte St. Martin seems unfair; she is in way over her head. Are you suggesting that he is? And on the basis of what?
2. I am not sure why you are picking on the inclusion of info about the effect of the pandemic on less-educated workers (disproportionately POC). It's a fact and unless you have a different path to propose, we have to hope that tourism continues to drive the economy. What do you propose to do with that workforce over the next 5 years?
3. What was the "grinding of gears"?
In other words, what are you actually proposing? Yes it would be lovely to have a city disgorged of so much tourism (same in every major city in the world, incidentally), but how do you make that happen? You seem to have a complaint without a shred of a solution, but I'm listening. you aren't proposing to ignore taking care of our underclass, are you? As I say, I am just perplexed by what you say, not because I am in love with the ill effects of all the tourism on our quality of life, but because I don't think pretending we have another way out over the near and medium term is responsible. |
