| A small number of documented cases around the world, and the 2nd COVID infection may be more severe. In one case the 2nd infection was fatal. And since so many COVID cases were never officially diagnosed in the first place (especially earlier, due to the extreme lack of testing, which is still a problem to some extent) and the initial strain needs to be documented, the actual numbers for reinfections are probably higher, though there's no way of knowing how much higher. Reinfection rates may also go up over time, as has been pointed out. |
