Ugh. There’s already been a Bway revival, Off Bway revival, Central Park production, and a movie! Give another show a chance. Brigadoon? I don’t know, Wish You Were Here? The Goodbye Girl? Steel Pier?

Wish You Were Here !!! Yes-Yes-Yes !!! The under-served Harold Rome !!! If not Destry or Wholesale -------- Wait ! How about a whole Rome season ??? Well, anyway, "Wish" has a delightful score, and could be well cast with the current crop of young Broadway talent.

Not justifying the choice of ITW, I think they do view it as having commercial prospects. Also, and this will seem morbid, I bet there is an anticipated prestige to putting on the "last production Stephen Sondheim contributed to," which in reality will be happening to a production sooner rather than later.

I think ITW is great, but I do have show fatigue. I'd love to see so many other shows first

It' like the Library.y of America..........When notable this series started, it was all of Hawthorne , Melville, Henry James, Document, from founding fathers. then They began publishing volumes.that anyone else can do)they even published a brief selection of Sondheim lyrics (in a tiny hardcover, like devotional prayers) essays, on sports or dance. It's as if Encores would stage the already filmed IN TO THE WOODS, while ignoring Kern Hammerstein Very Warm for May.The r&h I married an angel was recently done, and it was the cause of my worst0 Broadway binge ever.. I'll post on that later. John Podhoretz had an article today Called something like the pandemic wont be over till Broadway comes alive again.sorry for the typos its finger spasms

The "devotional" Sondheim was published by Everyman. LOA did a small book of Cole Porter's lyrics, which I thought entirely justified. Love that they consider musical theater a solid contributor to American lit. (They also did a handsome two-volume set of musical theater scripts—Gypsy, Pal Joey, South Pacific, etc., which are a great tribute to the art form.)
