| I have to say I think the "We cancelled it becuase of the backlash" is a bit of producer's-covering-themselves-for-their-own-bad-decisions . The production was going on in a less popular theatre in Sydney, at a time when "Frozen", "Pippin" and a new production of "Rent" were also going on, with a star who's never done a stage musical before and who's best remembered role is a TV soap that ended 7 years ago. Unsurprisingly, I'm sure, tickets sales weren't high, and the opportunity to pull the plug early and claim it's all due to social media backlash was probably irresistable. |
