| There are so few Meryl Streep movie musicals. Too bad we can't get a sneak of one of her numbers in this film. I am assuming she has at least ONE solo. I am not overly familiar with the source material. I must admit though that I only saw her in MAMMA MIA on Fire Island during a storm. This was in Cherry Grove under a roof. What a godawful movie but she was great. I redeemed my lack of Streepworship by paying to see INTO THE WOODS on opening day. The Ziegfeld, of course, I think. It definitely was not Fire Island. Since it was snowing. Details are fuzzy, we'd had a little brunch (a Sondheim movie!) You know how it is. Here's to the Ziegfeld. And more Sondheim movies. And many more Meryl musicals. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| If they keep to the stage score, she will at least have this killer comic number. I am happy this show got a film treatment. I think it will translate well. Laura |

| I think if she only PHONES IN a song with that title, she will get YET ANOTHER Oscar nomination. Not that there's anything wrong with that. And she never PHONES IN anything, so this post is silly. I guess I'm in the holiday spirit because of the last 48 hours. |

| On stage it was basically a YA (young adult) TV movie musical on stage. Fun as it was it was not broadway caliber, and felt almost written to be adapted for TV/Netflix/Disney. Not everyone agrees with this assessment, sure, but my point is that Meryl slaying a song or two in this movie seems VERY unlikely to get her an *Oscar* nom, if you ask me (which no one did). | |

| Netflix's ''The Prom'' features a new song, ''Wear Your Crown,'' by Adam Anders, Peer Astrom, Sklar and Beguelin, that'll be Oscar-eligible. From Ryan Murphy in Variety: ''When we got to the end of the movie ... I think we needed an end-credit song that’s about the women. It’s about the female power in the film. I told the songwriting team and the composer, “Let’s do something upbeat, that we can send people out in a celebratory fashion, and let’s have all the women do the vocal tracks. Furthermore, let’s have Meryl Streep rap.” They were like “What?” I said, “I want her to rap. I need her to rap.” They laughed, and they went off and wrote the song “Wear Your Crown,” and it’s optimistic and makes you feel good. It has a message of fighting intolerance and being proud of who you are. We wanted to leave young people with that feeling.'' |

| It's a decent end credits song even though it owes a LOT to "This Is Me." The Michelle Obama line will annoy all the right people, which always works for me. And Meryl has rapped before ON SCREEN. Here's the best I could get from YouTube. I think you all will find it famliar. |

| Are there definite plans to release The Prom in movie theaters for a limited run in order to qualify for Oscars? I can't wait to see the film, but (if available) I'd rather see it first on a movie screen before viewing it on my TV. | |
