| I think that the confusion continued about this song because original cast member Lori Davis in her book “Letting Down My Hair” speaks about Melba Moore singing the song and how amazing it was and that the band seemed to play a different accompaniment for her with cool woodwind and brass things. She appeared to be referring to when Melba went on for Lynn and/or briefly replaced her in the role of Sheila. They don’t appear to have alternated who sang the song but when people were out or not able to sing parts of their role but still decided to go on for their scenes, songs were sometimes re-distributed without regards to character. There was apparently a performance that all of the black cast members missed in solidarity after one of the cast members died when some wild substations happened also. | |

| Might that have been after Lamont Washington died in a fire? A very sad part of the production's history. | |

| Apparently, the cast was not given permission to attend his funeral. Listen to the short Story Corps story at the link. |
