I have developed an appreciation of his take on "If Love Were All"* on the Garland Carnegie recreation. It has a unique blend of world-weariness and youthful reflection on a (love) life only half over that comes off as unaffected and charming.
*But the Ebersole version on her Coward album is truly sublime. I love the verses. |
