| When I move, feet first, out of my apartment my heirs will trash them. My wife is attached to them. We never, thanks to the internet, reference them. I'd like to keep the successful shows and the famous actors (and almost every Public Theater Shakespeare and such). But the failures? the forgettables? Any good ideas? | |

| Many of us are in the same position. I think ultimately we will all go the same path. First see if a library, school, collector--anybody--wants them. If not, keep the few that you feel personal connection to, and, yes, trash the rest. I used to carry mine around with every apartment move. Then I decided to trash all of them. After my last move, about 7 years ago, I started collecting them again. Truthfully I never look at them, and they sit in their Playbill binders, taking up so many shelves. Ultimately, I know I will trash them all again rather than move them. (with my kindle, I've already been getting rid of my book collection.) I have four playbills with autographs (one signature in eyebrow pencil!). I'll keep those. |

| Like you said, as a reference, most of the broadway and off-broadway are on line. I pull the adds and articles out of mine so that reduced the size of many to fit into four Tupperware-type boxes (12x18x7H). Others have kept their local productions (since those aren't on line) and toss the on-line version. To be honest, i like the cover art and especially when a show has different productions. But you are right, they will be tossed when you die. And there is little market for them--even my moms from the 40s aren't worth much since they are not signed and a sizeable amount are replacement casts. For me, it wouldn't be worth my time to find someone to buy them or even give them to. | |

| Perhaps an acting school or Julliard would accept them...an out-of-state school or library might be best bets. New restaurants will pop up in the theatre district; your collection might be useful to decorate on a budget. | |
