That concept would have been MUCH MUCH better applied to Kiss of the Spider Woman than Nine, where he nonetheless applied it. Though I would say i think if ALL the songs were seen that way than it would overkill and kill the effect of the numbers that are specifically the movie musical scenes with Aurora. But maybe it would have found a balance.
Of course it's now impossible for her to do a KOTS movie, it would have to be a Latinx female star. I'd love to see a movie of it made. Prefer if Mendes directs the movie with Marshall reprising his role as co-choreographer from the Broadway mounting. I do not at all trust him as a film director. But this seems like an amazing project for Mendes and for them to re-team from their Cabaret broadway days. |
