While they don't have the full scores as heard on Broadway, the '36 Show Boat and the '43 Girl Crazy (with Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney) were certainly not botched and are quite enjoyable.

In the original version of my post, I put in a parenthetical exception for the '36 Show Boat, then decided that weakened the flow of the sentence so I just took it out. No, that one isn't a botch.
