| Lloyd Richards seems to have been given short shrift in the article. Right? It was Richards’ tenure as dean at Ysle Drama School that provided Wilson with a very new, dynamic means of getting all his works mounted and rehearsed and, essentially, previewed through an ingenious exploitation of the not-for-profit theatres in America. And the graduate departments at Yale were likewise a magnificent source of free labor for Richards’ creation of Wilson. Lloyd Richards did all that for Wilson. Aside from also directing all (or almost all?) of the first productions. Would Wilson have had his platform without Richards? Would he even have written so much? I think not. Which the wind and which the wings beneath, I wonder. |

| And Richards headed up the O'Neal Playwright's Conference where the plays were first read. | |
