I don't share YOUR perspecitve on this, sorry to say. I do not feel that Spamalot is really a "different animal" at all (I do agree that Hairspray was.) The film of Spamalot will essentially be a remake of Holy Grail with added songs. Much as the film of The Producers was - and we can all see how much of a "good movie version" that was.

I would have welcomed a commercial filming of the stage production, as a stage production, to be enjoyed for what it was on stage - but making it into its own feature film just puts it in inevitable comparison with Holy Grail (which, no, is not something we do with Pygmalion vs. My Fair Lady, because they really are completely different properties).

But I'm going to curtail my debate here and just say that we can certainly agree to disagree. :-)
