|One reason Tina Louise rather distanced herself from doing reunion shows and tv movies with the rest of the cast for the most part was that she apparently signed on to the show originally being led to believe that the show was being built around her as the main star. She still did it -- perhaps that billing she got with her being the last one with the important "And" before her name assuaged her somewhat. But what happened was Russell Johnson became the only reasonably sexy guy among the male cast, and Dawn Wells got overwhelmingly the most fan mail on the show. Their roles were beefed up to some extent since they got more popular. There have been many polls, mostly informal of whether people prefer Ginger or Mary Ann, and Mary Ann has won most polls handily. She was a sweet, helpful, pretty, genuine, optimistic, hard-working, practical and loving person, almost like a dream recipe for the girl most guys would like to marry or at least be their girlfriend; it sounds like Wells wasn't too far off from the character she played. She will be missed, but the show will live on forever in repeats.|
